Description
This green Mao Feng tea from the Zhejiang province is harvested in the spring and represents outstanding quality. The plantation for this Mao Feng is located near the Jiu Long Shan mountain, also known as the “Mountain of the Nine Dragons,” at an elevation of around 500 to 600 meters. ‘Mao’ means ‘fluffy,’ and ‘Feng’ means ‘mountaintop.’
There is a special myth surrounding Mao Feng. The legend goes as follows: Long ago, there was a young man and a beautiful young woman who were hopelessly in love and worked together on the tea plantation. One day, a wealthy man passed by the plantation and noticed the woman’s beauty. He wanted her for himself and forced her to become his concubine. The woman managed to escape, but in the meantime, the wealthy man had already killed her true love. When the woman went to the grave of her soulmate, she cried so hard and for so long that she turned into rain, and her soulmate turned into a tea bush. This is said to be the reason why the Huangshan mountains are always humid and cloudy.
