Description
Ceremonial matcha is the one traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremonies, where only the highest quality is used. Our ceremonial matcha comes from the Japanese region of Kagoshima, known for its exceptionally high-quality tencha, the tea from which matcha is made. Mixing various cultivars in particular creates a unique taste in this matcha.
Some say that they need to learn to drink matcha and initially find it bitter. However, we can’t agree with that. A quality matcha, prepared correctly, not only offers a rich and even sweet taste but also often contains surprising undertones and aromas of chocolate and a delicate umami flavor.
How to prepare matcha tea?
Take a cup, matcha bowl, or the traditional chawan and add 2 grams of matcha powder. Traditionally, this is done with a chasaku (matcha scoop). To avoid lumps, it’s often sieved.
- Pour in a little water and mix to form a paste.
- Now, add 100 ml of 80°C water.
- Whisk using a chasen (traditional matcha whisk) for a maximum of 45 seconds.
- Drink directly from the chawan.
