Description
This Gaba Green Japan falls under the tea class of ‘green tea’ and is a Sencha that underwent the special GABA production process. It comes from Japan, specifically from the Shizuoka District.
GABA (which stands for gamma amino-butyric acid) is a substance found in every tea (about 6 to 10 mg), but a genuine GABA tea contains much more of this substance (a minimum of 150 mg per 100 grams of tea). The tea achieves its elevated GABA content through the special production process it undergoes. GABA is a neurotransmitter that is also produced by the body and has a calming effect. For this reason, GABA tea became very popular in a short amount of time.
The undertones of this green tea are gentle and slightly astringent, as typical Japanese green teas often are. Those who delve deeper into this tea will also notice subtle buttery undertones.
A special tea with a very pleasant and accessible taste. This one is a must-try!
