Organic and Fair Trade Tea as a Starting Point
The foundation of our assortment is simple: we choose organic and fair trade tea whenever possible. Although we can’t label every product as ‘organic’ – simply because strict regulations don’t always allow it when we package locally – we do follow a clear internal standard: if there is an organic option available, we choose it.
A large portion of both our loose teas and our tea bags comes from organic agriculture. These teas are cultivated without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, which is not only better for the environment, but also for the people growing the tea – and for the consumer who drinks it.
Reuse as Second Nature
Avoiding waste starts with being creative with what you already have. That’s why we systematically reuse packaging materials. We collect filling materials we receive ourselves or that other companies donate to us. We reuse these to safely pack your order.
In many cases, our shipping boxes are reused boxes. When we do have to buy new ones, we choose only boxes made from recycled cardboard. This way, we contribute to a circular economy where resources last longer and waste is reduced.
Green Energy and the Path to Solar Power
Behind the scenes, we also make sustainable choices. Our office runs entirely on 100% green electricity. This means that all our operations – from customer service to inventory management – are powered by energy from renewable sources such as wind, sun, and water.
And we’re going a step further: in 2025, we plan to install solar panels on our building. With this, we aim to move closer toward energy independence and help reduce CO₂ emissions.
Conscious Choices in Shipping and Hosting
When shipping our packages, we look beyond speed and price. We’ve deliberately chosen DPD as our logistics partner because they offer several green delivery options. A significant part of their transport is done using electric vehicles or other eco-friendly alternatives.
We also actively promote pickup at a DPD parcel shop, as this is by far the most ecological shipping method. Customers who choose this option receive a small discount on the shipping cost as a thank-you for their conscious choice.
Finally, even our website fits into the sustainability story. We host Thee.be with Kinsta, one of the greenest web hosts in the world. Kinsta runs entirely on renewable energy and takes sustainability very seriously. This ensures that even browsing our website has as little impact on the climate as possible.
