Every year, we select a single tea estate to work with for our First Flush Darjeeling. The first flush is always a moment eagerly anticipated by tea lovers from all over the world. The Camellia sinensis, the tea plant, lies dormant throughout the winter, so the First Flush — or first harvest — yields the very first tea of the year. Thanks to this winter dormancy in the Himalayan region, the leaves from this harvest are packed with unique aromas and nutrients.

Darjeeling is sometimes referred to as the ‘champagne of teas’, and the First Flush can certainly be regarded as the ‘Dom Pérignon’ of Darjeelings. The supply of this harvest is limited and global demand is enormous. We are therefore proud to present our 2026 edition.

This year, we have selected the very first flush from the renowned Happy Valley Estate, Darjeeling’s second-oldest tea plantation, established in 1854. The tea plants grow there in a unique microclimate at an altitude of 2,100 metres and are at least 80 years old — some even 150 years old. In 2007, Happy Valley Estate switched entirely to organic cultivation.

This estate therefore combines everything needed for an exceptional tea: the ideal terroir, the maturity of the plants and generations of craftsmanship. We are already big fans and particularly proud of our limited edition First Flush.
