Description
Honeybush, or “honingbos” tea, is a somewhat lesser-known herbal tea than Rooibos, but it is gaining increasing popularity, and rightly so. It is praised for its beneficial effects on the body and is delightfully aromatic with a sweet note.
Honeybush comes from the South African ‘Cyclopia Intermedia’ shrub, not the Asian tea plant, Camellia Sinensis. As a result, this Honeybush contains no caffeine. It’s therefore an ideal tea to drink in the evening. Honeybush also serves as a delightful digestive after meals.
The shrub was discovered in the 17th century in South Africa and is named for its yellow blossoms and honey scent. Today, it is primarily cultivated on the Eastern Cape of South Africa.
