Description
Fenugreek, also called ‘Greek Hay’, is a versatile spice that has been used for centuries in the cuisines of the Middle East, Asia and around the Mediterranean. Its slightly bitter, nutty flavour adds a unique aroma to various dishes, from curries and stews to breads and marinades. But did you know that fenugreek can also be made into a flavourful tea very easily?
Fenugreek tea has a pleasantly warming, slightly sweet undertone and is known for its special aroma. To prepare this tea, first crush the seeds gently in a mortar or with the rounded side of a spoon. Then steep about one teaspoon of crushed fenugreek seeds in boiling water for about 5 to 10 minutes. For a fuller flavour, you may want to combine the tea with other spices, such as ginger or cinnamon, or finish with a little honey. A surprising, natural infusion that is both flavourful and soothing.
